Dry Screw Vacuum Pump for Chemical & Pharmaceutical Industry (CPI)
Discover how our Dry Screw Vacuum Pump is used for Chemical & Pharmaceutical Industry (CPI)
The pharmaceutical industry is growing, and so must the technology and tools used within it. Pharmaceutical companies can adapt to changing times by making sure their processing equipment is safe and efficient.
Medicine and drug manufacturers as well as life science operations make equipment selections to enhance processing capabilities. This improves their ability to overcome common production problems in a repeatable manner.
Pharmaceutical companies must choose the right pump for optimal processing. We will be discussing the different types of pumps that are used in the pharmaceutical sector and their contribution to this growing industry.
Importance of Roots Vacuum Pumps in Pharmaceutical & Chemical Industry: Why industrial pumps are so important for the pharmaceutical industry
In various pharmaceutical processes, industrial pumps are used to transport fluids via tubing to process equipment. They must not only be capable of preventing contamination and maintaining hygiene standards but also ensure that drugs and medications do not lose their effectiveness after passing through various processes.
This process is more complex than you might think. Manufacturers will not be able achieve the desired results during the drying, distillation and sterilization processes. Consumers will not be able to access medications as a result.
The quality and construction of the pump is important when choosing a pump to use in a pharmaceutical facility. Dependability of the pump is crucial, as it can lead to thousands of dollars in lost revenue due to non-compliant pharmaceuticals. It can also introduce bacteria to the medicine if it isn’t working properly.
It’s important to note that different water grades are used by the pharmaceutical industry depending on the outcome. These can be bulk water produced on-site, or packaged waters that are produced in controlled environments.
There are many sizes and types of pharmaceutical pumps. Below are some of the most common pumps used in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump:These are vacuum pumps that have water as a sealing fluid, which creates a water ring within the pump and helps in generation of vacuum. These are one of the most dated technology pumps available within the industry and are used in applications which have rough vacuum requirement. The limitation with these pumps is higher specific power consumption, ability to generate high quality consistent vacuum and process contamination of the sealing fluid generating unwanted effluent.
- Oil Ring Vacuum Pump:The Oil ring Vacuum pump is very similar to a Water Ring Vacuum pump with the main differentiation being in the sealing fluid, here it is Oil instead of Water there. This pump has better performance in terms of ultimate vacuum as compared to a water ring vacuum pump but has the same limitations of inconsistency in ultimate vacuum and process contamination of Oil with process vapours. This is a good choice for clean and dry air pumping.
- Dry Screw Vacuum Pump:The Dry screw vacuum pump is a 100% dry pump with no seafluid present in the working hamber of the pump. This pump has amongst the best specific ling power consumptions in the segment and capability to generate high quality consistent vacuum as per the process requirement, the other advantage that this pump offers is 100% dry pumping which leads to 100% process vapour/solvent recovery at the pump discharge at atmospheric pressure which otherwise would have not been possible.
- Roots Vacuum Pumps:Roots Vacuum pumps also know as mechanical vacuum booster pumps are pumps that can be installed on Top of any of the above backup vacuum pumps. These are 100% Dry Vacuum pumps and are popular because of their characteristic of the Bell shaped pumping speed curve that they form. To meet the high flow requirement booster pumps can be used in conjunction with other backup pumps. These pumps guarantee amongst the lowest specific power consumption and can increase pumping speeds and ultimate vacuum to the order of 10 on an average. Multiple Booster pumps can be used in series in the right staging ratio’s.
